What Was I Thinking?!
“I know what I was feeling, but what was I thinking?” by Dierks Bentley. This country song tells of a country boy who said thinking wisely “crossed my mind a little too late.”
A prayer I’ve prayed often is “God give me wisdom.” I don’t want to let emotions, fuzzy thinking, or even lack of thinking to characterize my life. I want to take time to think (and pray) about life. I don’t want to look back and realize that I made unwise decisions because I didn’t take time to think.
And time to think is essential. Don’t clutter your life to the point that you’re not thinking clearly. Many folks come to Whitestone to think. They talk about decisions facing them, direction needed, and clarity in future strategies.
It’s certainly not necessary to come to Whitestone to think clearly, but you do need to “decide to think.” Set aside time and maybe find a place to evaluate where you are and where you are going.
Alice (in Wonderland) came to a fork in the road. She asked the Cheshire Cat, “Which road do I take?”
The cat said, “Where do you want to go?”
Alice answered, “I don’t know!”
The cat said, “Then it doesn’t matter.”
Wisdom is knowing what’s at the end of your road.
“If anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously and ungrudgingly and it will be given to him.” – James 1:5
“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” – Henry David Thoreau
Take time to escape the clutter and make thoughtful decisions about where you are going.
Know what you’re thinking!
