Select a Stress Free Wedding Party – Tennessee Wedding Venue

Congratulations on your engagement! As you begin planning your wedding, one of the first things you’ll consider is selecting your wedding party. Make it stress free for YOUR day!

Think about who you plan to ask and why, and make sure you and your fiancé discuss these decisions first. Then, if issues arise with family or friends, you’ll be on the same page and appear united when dealing with problems. (Hey, if you plan to have children, this is great practice in presenting a united front and being on the same team!)

Choosing numbers and why

One of the first things you’ll need to determine is how many individuals will stand up with you. Our wedding coordinator, Deneise Lane, who has been working in the wedding industry for over 15 years, says, “Keep it small. I see a lot of brides getting aggravated with their wedding parties rather than enjoying them because they’re fighting amongst themselves or being petty about stuff. They end up making them more miserable instead of helping.” Don’t add more people just as an effort to keep the peace. You may end up with a stress-inducing, drama-creating wedding party who may not share your values or your opinions on style, who may not have the finances to participate, or who lack the skills needed to complete tasks you need them to complete.

Communicate! Communicate! Communicate!

Just as communication is going to be vitally important in your marriage, it’s important for planning your big day. Make sure your wedding party knows what you expect of them, what specific tasks and responsibilities you will need them to accomplish, how much money they will likely need to be in your wedding, and so on. Share your expectations up front, and give them the opportunity to decline. They may be able to fill another smaller role, or they may just love coming and sharing your big day as a guest.
